Mytime methodist3/19/2023 He is the founder and artistic director of the adult chamber ensemble Madrigali et al., which is the fourth choral ensemble he has built over his career. In his first year, he is looking forward to serving and continuing to keep up the traditions of this well established program. Now, I am preparing for my time of transition from California to Wisconsin. I followed the calling through challenges and hardships because I could not live my life in any other way. I knew my intended path in my soul very clearly. I saw God in a vision and heard God say, "Serve me with all your being." I remember at that moment how my restless heart rested for the first time and the burden that pressed on my shoulders my whole life long just fell away. The year I finished my degree, I once again received the calling of the Lord. To find a place of rest, I pursued my academic career in Germany. I had a passion in my heart, but I didn't know the direction of it. My parents wanted me to be a pianist, which was quite a common thing in Asian culture. It was not mine it was God's passion for me! Oh… how God loved me! And you! I forgot my vow and dedication towards God while going through the challenging, competitive education system in Korean Culture. I thought at first that it was 'my' mysteriously hidden passion. Have your heard of the important words Grace of God? And Prevenient Grace? Since then our second son, Owen, has been born and is enriching our family beyond measure. In the summer of 2014 my wife Carrie, my son Hans and I moved to Appleton and I started my time as the new senior pastor here at First UMC. I was ordained in 2008 and have served as a senior pastor of Community UMC in Waterford from 2010-2014. So far I have served part time at the Johnson Creek UMC and as solo pastor at the Waterloo UMC. We both started serving churches in Wisconsin in 2004. This is where I met my wife Carrie. I moved to the United States in 2004, when I got married. ![]() In 2001, I went to embark on an abroad adventure and enrolled at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois for one year. I was active in various congregations of the Reutlingen area and served as a seminary intern in an inner city church of Berlin, Germany. I loved being active in the community and my Methodist home church, participating and leading in ministries such as the brass band, the youth group and the young adult choir. I experienced a call into full time ministry in my late teens.Īfter graduating from college and a year of mandatory federal social service I entered my pastoral education. I served as pastoral intern for one year in four congregations in the Stuttgart, Germany area and then transitioned into the seminary years at the Theological school of the United Methodist Church in Reutlingen, Germany. I was born in the Black Forest area of South Germany and grew up in the Black Forest city of Freudenstadt .
